Maa Baglamukhi: the goddess who stills opposition

Maa Baglamukhi is the eighth of the ten Mahavidyas, worshipped in brilliant yellow. Her name comes from the act of restraining — she is said to hold the tongue of the adversary, stilling arguments, litigation and hostile intent.

The Mirchi Havan uses red chillies, turmeric and yellow mustard as offerings. It is traditionally performed when a person faces active opposition: court matters, prolonged disputes, professional sabotage or repeated obstruction that has no ordinary explanation.

The Mrityunjay Havan combines her upasana with the Mahamrityunjay mantra and is directed towards health, longevity and protection during a difficult period, particularly when illness and conflict arrive together.

Both rituals are performed on a Tuesday or an auspicious tithi, with yellow cloth, haldi and the strict mantra counts the tradition prescribes. They are undertaken with respect rather than as a weapon; the intention spoken at sankalp matters as much as the offering.
